Hi Everyone and welcome to my Soul Inspirations newsletter : "Do You Need Inspiration?"
I firmly believe there are two things that motivate people, one being inspiration and the other being desperation. I full appreciate there are times when people are in pain or they’re hurting so much that they’re forced to do something out of desperation. By the same token, there are people who realize that change is often instigated by inspiration.
If you’re struggling to find inspiration in your life, then I urge you not to give up. Seize the moment and go out and find it. I often find the smallest thing can give me inspiration in the strangest of places. For example, I might see a child playing, or overhear a conversation in the supermarket, or it can be as simple as a line from a movie or TV show, which resonates and acts as a catalyst to inspire me to take action. For me, this often happens when I’m just day dreaming! You know … those times when you’re not really paying attention to anything in particular. You never know when inspiration is going to come knocking at your door!
Try to be around people who inspire you, challenge you, and who encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. After all, these people are likely to give you the strength and courage to reach further than you've attempted to reach before, and to aspire to be more than you thought possible. You really notice this when you work with like-minded people, as it’s so much easier to blend and resonate with each other, not just mentally or intellectually, but with your heart and soul. When you’re inspired, it fills you with a sense of confidence and purpose. Inspiration is a powerful force, and provides a natural source of energy that will motivate you to push yourself further. These are the times when a goal or a desire is actually within your reach.
By contrast, if you’ve been suffering from boredom, feeling listless and tired, or just not caring about anything or anyone, then it’s more than likely that you’re feeling a sense of desperation to change something in your life. Inspiration can be that catalyst for change. First and foremost, try to find something that inspires you. Be daring, challenge yourself, you may want to even try something new, something scary that pushes you outside your comfort zone. It could even be something you always wanted to try, but never had the nerve or the time to do.
Inspiration is not solely linked to success. Some years ago, I took motorcycle-driving lessons and although I didn’t pass, it gave me a feeling of accomplishment, to be able to say: “I did that!” I’d always wanted to drive a motorbike and had romantic visions of racing around the country lanes, and even though I failed the test, at least I tried. It made me realize that some people aren’t meant for motorcycles – and I’m one of them!
By comparison, this past August I went to the Bimini, which is part of the Bahamas. I had an opportunity to go swimming with the dolphins in the turquoise ocean. It was something I’d always wanted to do. I remember the invigorating feeling of the dolphins coming up to me face-to-face to greet me allowing me and thirteen others to swim with them. The connection with the dolphins was truly unbelievable! It’s something that touched the very core of my soul and I will never ever forget it! I’m certain that not only will I never forget it – but I’ll draw on the experience as inspiration for the rest of my life!
